American History Class

one of the reasons I love homeschooling! I know many classrooms probably brought TVs in to watch the inauguration of our 44th president, but I am glad that I was able to sit with my children and answer all of there questions (and Gabby had many!) about the presidential swearing in ceremony.

I am so grateful for this stage of our lives. May I remember that these moments are fleeting, and to cherish the precious time I have right now in my young children's lives, as their primary teacher. What an honor.
(btw--it is still extremely difficult for me to publish posts, as my internet 'times out' about every 3 minutes--and I don't type that fast!--thank you so much everyone who has continued to check back with us--I do apologize for my lack of comments on other's blogs...I will be back as soon as possible!)

Happy Birthday, Hubby

hey there, hot stuff :) here's to YOU!

So, it's kind of like another 'memories' edition--but without the monday excuse...I'm just too lazy to upload the pics I took of him blowing out the candles this year.
Really, I could probably get away with using one of these--it's only how young all the kiddos look that reveals the age of the photos!

Monday Memories

December 18, 2004. ballet recital for Gabby and Hannah. standing outside because someone pulled the fire alarm at the school. so, we all exited, stood outside for an excessively long time while the firemen arrived, checked out the building and then cleared us to go back in and continue the recital. I remember thinking how grown up the girls looked in these photos. amazing how quickly that changes to thinking I can't believe how young they look!
also reminds me of the ballet recital Gabby and I attended for Hannah the next year that had to be postponed a day at the last minute because a squirrel got electrocuted on the power lines and blew them out. as all of the audience was leaving the school, there were parents taking photos of the poor fried rodent dangling from the wire.
and that, folks, is the kind of Monday Memories you get from me at 11:30pm on Monday night, after having no internet for 2 days, having to go to the airport at midnight last night when my mom's flight was delayed almost 2 hours, and not taking a nap when I had the chance because I was trying to catch up on all my blog reads...like my husband said when he texted to let me know my internet was back up --'your crack is back' . I make no excuses about my habit. I just wrote about an electrocuted squirrel. this is good stuff.

Nick and Shell

Since these two (especially the precious one on the left) have been on my mind and in my prayers a lot lately, I figured I'd stick a couple of cute photos of them on my blog.

the solution to the energy crisis

These were all taken between 12:45pm and 1:42pm today. In just under an hour, Evie changed outfits and hairstyles three times, entertained me with her kung-fu impressions/dance routine, ran in circles around the living room/dining room divider wall, 'read' a book (I had to be quick with that photo, she only sits for seconds at a time), played dress-up and tea party...which means that every dress and dish she owns ended up on the playroom floor simultaneously...,drew pictures with her big brother (unfortunately this requires too much supervision on my part and I forgot to bring my camera to the table...I left her alone with markers once and well, let's just say--she's quick, and I won't make that mistake again!)

Now just I need to figure out how to bottle it!...if I just wasn't so exhausted...

failure :)

yay! I failed to post a picture for the day yesterday! why so happy? because I tend to want to be perfect (God has a better idea: leave that to Him...I know, I know...) and post a picture EVERYDAY in 2009...it had to happen sooner or later--and since it is sooner...I don't have to wait for the later :) makes sense to me-so just go with it, ok?

sorry for the lack of pictures yesterday and today. my internet was down :(

and now that it is up...I used up all my computer time reading all of your wonderful posts over the last two days...and I promised my hubby an evening of vegetation in front of a movie...so, I'm outa here :)

not even time to upload a photo--but I'll make it up to you tomorrow, ok?!

Monday Memories

I have always wanted to have themed days on my blog...(you know, like the cool blogs do) so here's my first attempt...and we are going retro! waaaay back to 1991. that's me on the left. remember when jeans actually went to your waist? and sweaters sometimes didn't...

2am flooding

for a few hours this morning, we had a moat completely surrounding our house...and it began coming up on our patio. fortunately, it started snowing soon after this and most of it froze...but at its highest, it was 2 feet away from our back door. we are very thankful today, because--like most of our area--we do not have flood insurance! (anyone know a good policy?!--kidding. sort of.)
