Monday Memories

I have always been a collector. Rocks, sea shells, stickers, marbles, stamps, stuffed animals...oh yes, and bouncy balls.

Why? why bouncy balls? (she shrugs) eh, couldn't tell ya.

I can tell you that that one, tangled, shiny mess of tinsel is actually an authentic "Halley's Comet bouncy ball". oooohhh. now you're impressed.

I say that I have always been a collector, but I should actually say that I am a FORMER collector. No, no 12 steps here. I wish! just a daily reminder to myself that I don't want my family to drown in junk.

I took this photo the day I threw the bouncy ball collection away. No, I wouldn't have thrown them away if they had been in any way salvageable--but, sadly, bouncy balls do not age well.

I attempted to bounce one and it split! a halved bouncy ball lying on the floor in a crumb pool of flaked, brittle rubber pieces...sad. like the packaged toys in Toy Story 2 that never got played with.

anyone else a collector? former collector?

Tagged!

My friend, Heather, tagged me in her blog. And, after following the directions of the tag...I found this photo :

It is of Gabby and Ian in November of 2004. Gabby was not yet 4 years old and Ian had just turned 1. He did not begin walking on his own until 18 months and 1 week--so his big sister is helping him to stand while they work at the easel. It is one of those 'outtake' shots that would never have made it to the blog without this challenge--and I was definitely tempted to use another photo that was taken that same day that turned out much better, but I like that this tag is so random and that there is, truly, a story behind every photo :)

and now I am going to tag 6 more people:
1. Dorinda
2. Stephanie
3. Kelsey
4. Meredith (hee hee--I have two Meredith's on by blog roll so I get two for one!)
5. Delores
6. Amy

So what you are supposed to do is:

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.

1. Pick the 6th Folder, then select the the 6th picture in that folder.

2. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.

3. Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them. (what I want to know is--who really does this to people they don't know?! really?! come on! that's a silly part of the instruction that should be removed. and yet, like any good blogger--I'm not going to remove it--I'm going to BLOG ABOUT IT!)

Beach Bums a second ago...and now it's snowing!

Woke up to a fresh blanket of white stuff on the ground...and I smiled.

Instead of feeling cooped up in the mid-winter blahs, I am loving looking at the pictures from this past weekend's trip to the coast.

I hope you, also, are able to smile at the weather today-whatever it looks like where you are.

Monday Memories

An ad campaign I was in that ran in Montana in 1988-89.
The commercial and photos were shot the month before my family and I moved to Arizona. We were gone before they were posted. That did raise some eyebrows and questions :)
I was 13 at the time.
My 'boyfriend' in the ad was also a student at the theater school I attended. He was quite a bit older than me and I remember being so embarrassed during the shoot. My father was the commercial director, for goodness sake!
I recently re-connected with said 'boyfriend' via the magic that is Facebook. AND...(it gets better)...2 weekends ago, some girlfriends and I took a roadtrip to Seattle to see a show that he was in! and, yes, I did wait around and say hello to him after. and, no, he had absolutely no idea who I was. lol! (don't worry, i explained it to him and we had a jolly reunion after that--it consisted of him saying 'no way!!!' a few times)
you know what's really weird? the baby that was in the ad with us is 20 years old now.

sunshine and shadows

I love that there is enough sunshine outside to allow me to take pictures of my shadow.

it's kind of funny how I look like I am saluting in the photo, but am actually just holding the camera up. the hand on the hip? nope. can't explain that one. that's just me.

and there you have it. my blog is back from the dead. with a post about sunshine and shadows--which could actually be quite deep and metaphoric...but it's not. that would have taken too much effort. and, in the deep thinking department--I am all deep thunked out right now :)

it is good to be back...oh! I know! I'll do something I have never done in celebration of my return to bloggydom...I will issue a challenge! take the title 'sunshine and shadows' and write a post on your blog--be sure to leave a comment for me when you do so that I can read your undoubtedly more clever take on the subject.--of course this will only work if there is anyone out there that still reads this blog...hello?...hello?...please come back...I promise to not disappear again!
